Imagine my surprise when I log into
NetGalley and this is one of the first books that showed up for me.
A television show that shaped a lot of my
teenage existence, with characters that even years after the show went off the
air, are still some of my favorites.
Needless to say, I didn’t waste time requesting a copy of this and now that I’m done, I’m definitely not disappointed.
Zack, Kelly, Lisa, Screech, Slater and
Jessie—even Belding. They’re all along for the ride and what a fun ride it was.
This book is broken down into 4 parts. 4
individual stories that follow the original characters from the show, but with
the twist of having it taking place in current timeline. The things of the past
(minus a nice little reference) replaced with the way the world has turned and
changed since the show. It was a great way to breathe new life into something
that once upon a time meant a lot to people.
This was a very quick read, but an
enjoyable one because it felt as though I’d gone back in time without actually
having to go back in time. The characters acting much the way they did on the
show and even giving me quite a few laughs along the way.
The artwork while different, still
keeping true to the characters and bringing them to life even more vibrantly
than the stories themselves.
I would definitely recommend this graphic
novel to anyone who was a fan of the show when it was on the air, or anyone who
just enjoys comics and graphic novels period. I think you’ll enjoy it.
My thanks to NetGalley and all others
involved in giving me the chance to take this walk down memory lane (but in
real time).
