He
was an up-and-coming country singer.
She was the last girl you’d ever see in a bar.
But one night, under those neon lights,
Lucky and Katie found each other.
Beginnings are always exciting.
Always fun. Always hopeful.
Katie was in her last year of college.
Lucky was still playing local stages.
She fell for his voice. She fell for his words.
They fell in love.
It was beautiful.
But time changed their world.
She was alone. He was on the road.
Life happened.
And that love was torn apart.
Endings are always painful.
Always heart wrenching.
But not always final.
One day, Lucky came back to Katie.
And this is their story.
She was the last girl you’d ever see in a bar.
But one night, under those neon lights,
Lucky and Katie found each other.
Beginnings are always exciting.
Always fun. Always hopeful.
Katie was in her last year of college.

But time changed their world.

Excerpt
I
woke up sometime later to the sound of my phone buzzing next to me. Peering at
the screen, I saw Lucky’s name. I answered with a grin. “Hey.”
“Hey.”
I
imagined him sitting in his house in Nashville with his sexy smile and messy
hair. And that image was better than all the other images I’d had today.
“Did
I wake you up?”
“No,
I’m watching TV. Well, I kind of fell asleep in here, I guess.” I glanced at
the clock, and it said one-thirty in the morning.
“So
you are sleeping on the couch instead of out with your roommates?”
“How
do you know they aren’t home?”
I
heard his chuckle. “Same reason I know you are wrapped in a brown blanket.”
I
jumped up from the couch and spun around in a circle. And then I saw Lucky,
looking into the house through the dining room window. The rush I felt was
bigger than I expected. A high that drowned out all the other feelings. “How
long have you been watching me?”
“Well,
long enough to see that you probably snore because your mouth was wide open.
And I think you drool too.”
“No
. . .” I shut my eyes. “Get in here.”
I
hung up and went to the door. He was already on the steps by the time I had it
open.
“So
I was in the neighborhood.” He grinned. “Thought I would stop by.”
The
flutters in my chest held me captive. Lucky might be the star, but right now, I
felt like all the lights in the world had shifted their focus onto me.
Before
I could say a word, Lucky pulled me into his arms as he kissed me hard,
grinding his mouth against mine. He was holding me, running his hands over my
body, into my hair, against my cheek.
I
knew in that moment, the inevitable lonely ache that was destined to follow our
relationship would be worth the torment—if those days allowed me to experience
this mind-consuming rush of happiness that came each time he returned home.

"Have
fun with me Katie"
Reading
is a form of a relaxation technique for me. I get to lose myself, even if it's
for a few hours, in the stories, characters and plots. There are not many
stories that I read and can say that I didn't like. Mainly because they all
have something different and unique to offer me. Some make me laugh, some make
me swoon, some make me upset etc...
ARC
of My Lucky Days by SD Hendrickson provided in exchange of an honest spoiler
free review.
Reading
My Lucky Days was an entirely utmost experience. I felt emotions that I don't
get to feel every day. I'm trying real hard to find the right words to do this
amazing story justice, but none come close enough to describe how I feel right
now, because my heart feels whole and broken all at the same time.
It
feels whole because of these characters. They were perfectly, uniquely created
to make me feel every emotions that seeped through the pages in order to latch
themselves to my entire being. I'm not the weeping type, but let's just say
Stacy owes me a few box of Kleenex. I would have read this story in one sitting
but I just couldn't because I was often overcome by strong emotions that had my
chest ache.
It
felt broken because Katie spent her entire life moving around never having
roots. She was alone in a world full of people. When she did plant roots, she
wanted to stay. Lucky was on his way to become an up coming rising star in
country music that required him to travel a lot. They were together in a
whirlwind love story and then not. They came together at a time in their lives
where neither were ready for a life long commitment.
It's
such a raw, honest, pure love story of two young people who will find solace in
each other. Some say that such a love doesn't exist, well trust me it does. The
author's deep and beautiful writing was so captivating and endearing, it was
like music to my ears. This story was far from being predictable with it's
unparalleled shifts in the course of their journey in order to bring them
together at the end.
This
amazing author as written 3 wonderful stories so far that I've had the pleasure
of reading. When I think it can't be possible, she manages to write yet another
6 star story. Time, passion and love comes from this author's writing. This
author exerts creativity in her stories with storylines like no other.
By
writing a review I get to prolong this incredible journey. This is a standalone
told in Katie's POV only but the I was able to feel so much for Lucky also. The
nicely written epilogue gave the HEA I wanted and the characters deserved. This
is the kind of story that I will never forget and it comes highly recommended.
"Maybe
it's fast. But if you spend your whole life worrying, then you will forget to
live. Don't get caught up in the maybes"
