Synopsis
In this sizzling
novel from New York Times bestselling author Missy Johnson, a young journalist
goes undercover in a world of desire—and gets seduced by the billionaire
bachelor she’s supposed to be chasing. Recent college grad Charlotte Lucas
thinks she has found her breakout story. It all begins when she answers a
provocative want ad posted by a secretive mogul who happens to be a prime
suspect in his girlfriend’s disappearance. Young and inexperienced, Char has
never been pushed to the limit—until their games take her to the very edge.
Char has gone in looking for the truth, but now she’s in way too deep with a
master who plays her body like it belongs to him. Jaxon Murphy knows a lot more
about Char than he lets on. Although the media has made him out to be a
monster, he’s not about to come clean about his tormented past—at least not
before he turns this good girl bad and sends her out to do his dirty work.
After all, Jax didn’t make it to the top without breaking some rules. But as
their play grows passionate and achingly real, Jax can’t resist taking a shot
at something that’s bigger and more powerful than revenge: love.

Having read the first 7 chapters of this
story previously for another blog and enjoying the story, I was eager to see
how the full story would play out so it was a no brainer for me to pick this
up.
Much like the first portion of their story that I was able to read, I was just as hooked with the rest and enjoyed how their relationship came to be. How they both seemed to change and care about each other more than their immediate goals at the beginning of the novel.
The love scenes between the two were hot, but surprisingly for me, probably because of all the darker reads that I’ve been a part of lately, I didn’t pull dark and twisted from this, even though Jaxon’s sexual tastes were quite eclectic. It did work for me though and held just the right amount of steam with the position that brings Charlotte to his door to begin with.
What Jaxon was after, his motivation from the start, that definitely hooked me. I found myself wanting to know just what had happened to his parents and what everyone’s roles would be. Also, the truth of what had happened to Jaxon’s ex-girlfriend. All of which was answered in full in the story and in a way where I felt as though it was complete.
The pacing was quick, the flow of the story fast paced and easy to follow for the amount of information that was brought forth in the story and even though it did seem like it all wrapped up a little too quickly at the end (I wanted more in that regard), it did end with a happily ever after for both and a definitive end.
My thanks to the author, NetGalley and all others involved in letting me read a copy of this before its official release. This is definitely an author I will be reading more from in the future.
