Title: Burn for You
Author: Stephanie Reid
Release Date: October 16, 2015
Synopsis
Vic Russo is just one of the guys. Except
she’s not a guy. A paramedic, affectionately known as Vic within her firehouse,
Victoria is a permanent fixture in the friend zone. But when her childhood
crush, firefighter Graham McAndrew, becomes single once again, she decides
enough is enough. It’s time for Graham to see her as the woman she’s become.
There’s only one problem. A photo of her in the arms of another man has
captured the nation’s attention.
Jason Meadows is not thrilled to have his police work interrupted by a small media craze. In fact, he’d be content never to see Victoria or that photo-gone-viral again. But a series of fires in town, paired with a growing attraction to the quirky paramedic, make staying away impossible.
Determined to ferret out a potential killer, Jason enlists Victoria’s help as his eyes and ears inside the firehouse. And while threats rise from within, Victoria is forced to choose between the love of her past and the man who’s ignited her fire within.

It doesn’t happen nearly enough, but
there’s no containing my happiness when it does. The moment when you pick up a
book and every single thing about it is firing on all cylinders so that even
before you’ve reached the end, you know it’s going to be a guaranteed 5 star,
will read again, book.
It happened here.
I’ve never experienced this author
before, so I went in with no clue what I was in for. I knew that there were two
books that came before this one, books that while standalone, would probably at
least in part play into the events in this one (so there was a little bit of
concern) but despite that, I dove in and with each page turned, fell in love.
With the writing style, the main
characters in Vic and Jason and even those characters that were regulated more
to the background in supporting roles. All of it came together in such a
phenomenal way that it made it extremely hard to put down once started.
I loved Jason pretty much from the moment
he came on scene and the same could be said for Vic even though I wasn’t a big
fan of the one sided feelings she happened to have. They both came across very
real, especially given the reality of the situation they found themselves
embroiled in after they’ve met. The right around of background was given on
both of them to make the movements that they made throughout, both together as
a couple and apart, very organic to me.
What brought these two characters
together, and the buildup to exactly who and what is causing it to happen
throughout the book was great. I have to admit, I thought I had an idea of
exactly who the person behind the arsons was, but in the end I had no clue at
all. I loved the fact that it wasn’t predictable in the slightest and that it
was the last person I ever would have expected as it all began to resolve
toward the end.
The secondary characters, primarily,
Jason’s foster brother and members of Vic’s family (both at the firehouse and
actual family) were the perfect additions to the story and moved it along
nicely. Some of them at times even standing out in their own right in terms of
me wanting to know more.
There was a good level of humor laced
throughout this story as well that when added to the serious nature of the
suspense and romance that was driving it, evened it out nicely. While things
did get heavy emotionally at points for me, it was nice to have those instances
of humor to level it out so that you didn’t drown in it.
The relationship between Jason and Vic,
while seemingly having to move quickly based on what thrusts them together in a
more intimate way in the first place, wasn’t something I would consider too
fast. I think that the author took great care in the pacing of this story so
that for me personally, I was able to see the growth between them over time.
Sure, there might have been a bit of one step forward-two steps back with them
at points, but it all made sense and moved at a pace that I enjoyed.
All in all, this was a fantastic read for
me and I’m glad that I came across it. I look forward now to going back and
reading the books that came before it, and also eagerly await what the author
has for us next.
My thanks to the author and all others involved
for letting me have access to this story for the purpose of reviewing. I
thoroughly enjoyed every second of it and my only complaint is that I’m sad it’s
over.

Stephanie Reid writes contemporary
romances with heart, humor, and a happily ever after. She holds a master's
degree in Human Development Counseling and enjoys using counseling theories on
her fictional characters (and from time to time her husband).
She draws inspiration for her stories
from life experience, and when writing, she frequently asks her police officer
husband for his input on all things law enforcement. They've agreed not to
discuss the bits of advice she doesn't take when it doesn't serve her plots
well, and this makes for a very harmonious marriage.
Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs,
Stephanie now resides with her husband and three children in central Illinois.
