Moments.
Our lives are a
collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some
beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.
I’ve had many moments
in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me
and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and
breathtaking ones—all included him.
I was ten years old
when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who
could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark
days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually
drowned him in a sea of memories.
This is the story of
a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of
life and death. Of love and broken promises.
Of moments.

Elements Series. Complete Standalone.)

There’s one thing I
know when I pick up any story by this author, and it’s simply this.
I will be moved.
Altered. Ripped apart and pieced intricately back together by story’s end.
And that was
definitely the case again with this story.
I actually finished this
a few days ago, but any words I managed to string together at the time, didn’t
seem to do the story that unfolded between the beginning and the end, justice.
I don’t believe that even what I write now will. I can only hope that something
I say moves someone else enough to want to try this author if they haven’t, or
take another journey with her if they have before. It’s one of those books that
you don’t want to know things about going in because you want to feel
everything as it happens.
Right from the
beginning, as with a lot of her previous works, the emotion was thick. It hit
right away and it hit hard and when my heart wasn’t bleeding with these
characters, it was crying with them. For them. Laughing with them. Feeling with
them. But no one emotion more so than loving. I was learning to love with them.
Falling all over again.
The main characters
of this story were meant to be. Even as young children, I just knew. My heart
was full whenever they spent any amount of time together, and even though their
journey was in no way easy, both as individuals and as a team together, it was
one worth taking. One heavy with feeling. Every emotion, every part, so very
beautiful.
There were issues
tackled here that I have known in my life and still experience in different
forms to this day. Ones on a day to day basis. When something that I can
identify with presents itself in a story, I’m equal parts excited and worried
because reality in fiction, it’s a very thin line to work with. What was here,
worked for me. There were aspects that differed a great deal from my own
personal experience, but that’s as to be expected in a fictional tale as it is
in real life. No two cases of anything are ever the same and I enjoyed the way
the author handled them, even if to some, it may not have been handled the way
they wish it to.
I will say that while
I do have an attachment to every one of this authors stories, this one may be
the one that stays with me the longest. A journey that as I move on to other
books (which I haven’t been able to do as of yet lol), will always just be
there, like an old friend. And it is definitely a book I would read again, if
only to experience the magic that it provided. The very real magic between two
people meant to be.
If you want a story
that will move you right from the first page, gripping you and not letting go
even when the story is over, with words that read like a melody, than this is
the story for you. Just don’t go into it without about a year’s supply of
tissues. Be prepared to feel, and feel a lot.
Brittainy Cherry, you
have outdone yourself.
My thanks to the
author and all others involved for letting me read a copy of this before official
release. This was a journey, both individual and together that I’ll never be the
same after taking.

she's probably playing with her adorable pets.
