I’m not a perfect
man. Who of us can claim that? But for those of you who might think I’m a
cheater, a liar, an abuser, you don’t know what you’re talking about. There’s
more to my story than you realize.
You’ve heard Miranda’s story. Now it’s time you heard mine.
—Mason
Because of the decisions I’ve made, lives have been forever changed. I didn’t step into those choices lightly. But I feel free now. I don’t know what’s going to happen on the next step of my journey, but I know I’ve risen out of the ashes and I’m ready to face the world. I hope you’ll share the journey with me. I hope you’ll understand . . .
—Miranda
I might seem cold and unfeeling, but you have no idea what my story is. Maybe it’s time you find out. . .

Fiction
Series or Standalone:
Series (Torn Series #2)
Rating: ★★★1/2
stars – Rounded to 4 for Goodreads and Amazon
I went into this with
high hopes. The insight the author brought to the table in the first book
within this series, Torn, actually made me do a lot of thinking about the
situations I was reading about. What I would in said situations, or if we do
the same things at all. It made me sympathize where normally before, I couldn’t
imagine myself doing so. Needless to say, I really enjoyed the first story, and
dove into this one looking for more of the same.
I came away from this
story incredibly torn, no real book related pun intended.
I wanted to see Mason’s
POV strictly because I think in any given situation, it does good to see both
sides. Nothing is ever just one sided. So in that regard, I do believe the
author wrote his POV well.
Sadly though, after
reading it, I realize, I didn’t want what I got. At least not with him.
He made me want to
throat punch him right from the start and I wanted to throat punch him at the
end.
I really wish I could
just go back to the first book now. Those two characters, now there was a lot
of meat and substance there.
That same thing
couldn’t be said here.
Why I’m torn is, this
was written incredibly well. Same as the first book. There were even quite a
few easily visible in my mind moments.
There was steam, if
that’s your kind of thing, but since I can take it or leave it, it mattered
little to me, but even those scenes were written very well.
I just went into this
story wishing for more than I got, sadly.
Now, that being said,
this will continue on with another book that moves on from the relationships
within Torn and Tattered, yet follows the same main character, Miranda and I’m
eager to read it. I want to see how it all ends up going because I was so invested
off that first story.
As for this one, the
rating reflects the writing. It reflects the seeds planted in Torn and carried
over in this one, and it reflects the authors ability to tell a tale.
This just happened to
be a tale of a man I wished I could have rather not seen, yet am happy I did
because it justifies why I felt the way I did in the first story.
My thanks to the
author and all others for letting me read an ARC of this before release.
